Health Services
The following health services are provided at the Middle School in accordance with the New Jersey Department of Education. If you have a concern or want your child excluded from any services please contact the Middle School Nurses.
Screenings:
All students are screened annually for height, weight and blood pressure.
Vision is screened in 6th & 8th grades. Hearing and Scoliosis is screened in 7th grade.
Medication:

First Aid
Nurses are available to care for any student who becomes injured or ill while at school. Please be sure to update the nurses with any change in your child's health status. Also, it is important that you update the school with any changes in your home, work, cell and emergency contact numbers.
Sports Physicals
Medical examinations are required prior to participation on intramural athletic team or squad. The examination shall be conducted by your health care provider within 365 days of the start of the sport activity. The NJ Dept. of Education Annual Pre-Participation Physical Exam Form Part A and Part B must be used. Your child can obtain the form from our health office or you can download the form from our website. The school doctor will be available by appointment to do physicals for students who do not have a health care provider.
Health Appraisal
The school nurse will provide a medical assessment upon request as part of the comprehensive child study team evaluation pursuant to N.J.A.C.6A:14-3.4; and when a student is suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or controlled dangerous substances.
Communicable Disease Control
Prevention and the spread of communicable diseases in school and in the community requires cooperation and partnership between home and school. The first step in the control of communicable diseases is the knowledge of when and where these diseases occur. For a detailed list of diseases that are reportable to the school please refer to page 27 of the District Calendar and Parent Handbook. Please notify the school when your child is absent.
Immunization Review & Updates
The school nurses are responsible to ensure that immunizations records are reviewed and updated annually. The school nurse will recommend to the school principal those students to be excluded based on parent's failure to provide evidence of the student's immunizations as pursuant to N.J.A.C.8:57-4.1 though 4.16.
